Katie Larkin reviews Bombay Pantry’s street-food inspired spin-off, Chaat and Co., in Clonskeagh.
Chaat and Co. is an extension of the already established Bombay Pantry, serving lunch-friendly dishes and drinks inspired by Indian street food. With one location in Clonskeagh, they are just a short walk from UCD main campus. The restaurant itself is trendy and cute, with a nice atmosphere and outdoor seating for those rare days when the sun is out.

The eatery offers a range of meals, with an Indian fusion which is exciting and super ‘on-the-go’ friendly. Chaat and Co. also serve coffees, açai bowls and other delicious breakfast items with an Indian twist. For later in the day, the menu offers tiffin sharing platters, buddha bowls, and bigger dishes such as curries, flatbreads, and rice. I decided to get what seemed to be two of the more popular dishes; an Indian style chicken buttermilk burger, and masala fries. I was not left disappointed!
Chaat and Co’s food was fresh and tasty, and celebrated Indian flavours in an alternative and exciting fashion. The fries, which perhaps influenced by the ‘spice bag’ sold at Irish Chinese takeaways, were spicy yet delicious. The chicken burger was juicy and had an array of flavoursome sauces, making it different but elevating the taste of the typical chicken burger. With a wide range of homemade drinks on offer, the chilled chai tea appealed to me the most - and its quality matched that of the food.

Chaat and Co. is an affordable option for a meal; its close proximity to UCD campus makes it a perfect break from the busyness of college life.
