Dublin truly has no end of delicious Thai food options, but Camile Thai has become a reliable favourite. They’re an Irish business known for their huge portions and extensive menu with a variety of vegan-friendly dishes. As a vegetarian, it’s a bonus to know that I’ll never be short on options.
Camile Thai recognises the hardship that is the life of a student, and offers various budget friendly meal options. This includes a student lunch deal for €9.99, which gets you a main course, a side ‘bite’, and a drink. If you’re like me and usually eat your takeout alone (please don’t read into this) then you might like to know that they have flexible portion sizes, such as a singular spring roll for only €2.29 or the standard 3-piece starter for €6.99.
They also have a ‘savers’ menu with Spicy Dan Dan Noodles for €8.99 and a Camile Thai Burrito for €8.49. Although I have never had it due to my being a life-long vegetarian, I have it on good authority that if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat at lunch, (and you can’t get your hands on your usual chicken fillet roll) then the Camile Thai Burrito is quote, “delicious.”
My usual go-to on the vegan menu is the Pad Thai, though recently I have been loving the new Pad Krapow. I can recommend the Pad Prik Haeng if you’re a fan of cashew nuts and a slightly smokier sauce, and I always get the vegetable spring rolls (my personal kryptonite).
Of course, no restaurant review is complete these days without mentioning the Spice Bag. At €9.99, it’s one of the cheaper ones you will find, so it’s great value. Camile Thai have put their own spin on the much-loved Irish classic, swapping chips for spicy potato cubes packed with veg and chicken or crispy tofu.
They also pride themselves on their sustainability practices, which range from a robust waste management system and their 100% compostable packaging, to having Ireland’s first carbon-counted menu. Camile Thai’s commitment to environment-friendly initiatives has won them the title of ‘Most Sustainable Restaurant’ at the National Takeaway Awards.
If you’re looking for a healthy, enjoyable, and budget-friendly option to give some variety to your meals, Camile Thai might just be the place for you to get your next takeaway.
