President Andrew Deeks to leave UCD

UCD President Andrew Deeks has announced that he plans on leaving UCD in April 2022.

In an email received by students this morning, Registrar and Deputy President Professor Mark Rogers thanked President Deeks for his eight years of leadership.

Professor Rogers will take on the role of Acting President in the interim, until “the Governing Authority appoints the next President”. Professor Deeks is leaving his role at the university to take up the role of Vice-Chancellor at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia.

Professor Rogers spoke of the legacy that will be left behind by President Deeks, mentioning a “strong leadership team, an inspiring strategy, a comprehensive financial and resource plan, and an exciting campus development plan.”

Professor Rogers ensured students that, with his colleagues, he will “continue to ensure the excellence of your University experience.”
