Bec Goodyear explores her top 3 must-have travel items for every journey - whether it be commuting to college or long summer adventures.
Travelling can be a stressful experience, whether commuting to college or further afield. Through my experiences with travel, I have an extensive list of items for my travel bag that play a huge role in making my long journeys that little bit easier. Although, there often feels like a million crucial things to remember when packing for a trip, there are always three specific go-to items that I reach for when setting off on the road again.

My top item that I carry with me everywhere is my tote bag for extra storage. You never know when a free book sale, last-minute shopping trip or random adventure will happen, so it always pays to have an extra bag handy. My favourite is one that folds up in a pouch so you can easily pop it in your bag without taking up too much space. Bonus points for tote bags with quick-drying fabric so you are covered amidst risky Irish weather.
There is nothing like finding yourself stuck waiting for a delayed bus or plane with no headphones and only background noise or tedious airport elevator music to keep you entertained. A pair of headphones is always a must-have in my bag. I currently use the Sony WH-XB900N Noise Cancelling headphones. With these, I can either listen to music, watch a show or just block out the rest of the world around me.
Although music is my go-to form of entertainment whilst travelling, there is a special feeling induced when reading a new thriller on your way home from college, or a classic beach read on your way to a summer-y destination. Reading is the perfect way to pass some time whilst travelling, and a book or my Kindle are fun and entertaining essentials in my travel bag. My current recommended read is Intimacies by Lucy Caldwell for those unpredictable travel experiences.
