Una Europa, the European university alliance, is hosting its fourth annual Student Congress at the University of Helsinki from the 14th of November till the 17th. Every year, a different university within the UnaEuropa network hosts this Congress; this year the University of Helsinki has been chosen to welcome students and members of the teaching body across 11 universities in Europe to hose conferences, panels and discussions on what it means to create a truly european university that is fit for all. This alliance prioritizes five main axes: the study of Europe, sustainability, cultural heritage, global health and artificial intelligence and has received contributions from top-ranking european research universities such as The University of Edinburgh, The University of Bologna and Université La Sorbonne Panthéon-Assas.
The four-day event will invite students from their 11 partner universities to question who they are and their place in Europe and our wider world and to share their inputs with senior members of UnaEuropa. Specifically, this congress’s area of research will focus on storytelling, how stories shape our identity, communities and a sense of belonging.
Launched in 2019 at the bequest of the European Commission, Una Europa aims to combine both European integration ideals and cutting edge research. The cross continental partnership that today counts eleven permanent members including UCD is a self-proclaimed “intellectual playground, where critical minds can expand to their full aspiration”.
As such, the platform regularly facilitates collaboration, interactions and exchanges between its 600’000 members found across European Higher Education.
Any UCD student currently pursuing a degree is free to apply regardless of discipline and level of study. UCD promises to cover all travel and accommodation costs. Applications close at 5pm on October 6th. For further information, please visit: https://bit.ly/UnaEuropaStudentCongress.
