Results for the sabbatical officer by-elections have been announced.
At 3pm today, the results of the sabbatical officer by-elections were announced via Google Meets. Kelvyn Fields was elected to the role of Campaigns and Engagement Officer, whilst Luke Sherlock was elected to the role of Entertainment Officer.
The election for Campaigns and Engagement Officer was the only contested race, with Kelvyn Fields and Rajul Bhitre as the two candidates for the position. 1500 votes were cast in the race, with Fields receiving 763 votes and Bhirte receiving 699 votes. Re-open nominations (RON) received 38 votes. Fields received 50.9% of the vote, Bhirte received 46.6%, and RON received 2.5%.
Following the results, Fields stated, “Thank you to my campaigns team for all the work they put in, thank you to everyone that voted for me, and congratulations to Rajul as well - it was very tight, and Rajul ran a great campaign.”
Luke Sherlock was the only candidate for the role of Entertainment Officer. 1459 votes were cast, with Sherlock receiving 1191 votes, and reopen nominations (RON) receiving 268. Sherlock received 81.6% of the vote, and RON received 18.4%.
The two sabbatical officer roles have been vacant since late September, when both former officers, Hazen Griffin and Lily Gnojewski, stepped down due to visa complications. Kelvyn Fields and Luke Sherlock will now carry out the remainder of the sabbatical terms until June 2026.
