UCDSU Referendum & College Officer By-Elections

A referendum is to be held on the proposed new UCDSU Constitution. Voting in the referendum is set to take place from Tuesday 21st April to Thursday 23rd April.

A referendum is to be held on the proposed new UCDSU Constitution. Voting in the referendum is set to take place from Tuesday 21st April to Thursday 23rd April. 

Students will vote on the questions, “Are you in favour of the new UCD Students’ Union Constitution as proposed by Union Council?”

Alongside this, by-elections are to be held on the vacant College Officer positions. 

Mateusz Polinski is running uncontested for the role of Architecture College Officer. Polinski is currently a City Planning and Landscape Architecture Stage 2 Class Rep. Polinski recently raised a motion during the final Union Council of the academic year. The motion, which was carried, was regarding public transport in the Greater Dublin Area and its impact on UCD students.

Ayla Kurt-Elli and Muhammad Janjua are contesting for the role of Social Science College Officer. Janjua was recently elected auditor of UCD Politics and International Relations Society (PolSoc).

The remaining vacant positions on the Union Executive, namely Smurfit College Officer; Business College Officer; and  Agriculture, Food & Veterinary Sciences College Officer, received no candidates in this by-election. 

Only students that are registered in the relevant College vote in their respective College Officer election. However, all students are eligible to vote in the referendum.
