The election of UCD Students' Union (UCDSU) sabbatical and college officers will take place between Monday and Tuesday the 1st - 2nd April with counting and results expected on Wednesday 3rd April, UCDSU has announced.
The Union's Returning Officer, Michael Foley, confirmed that nominations for those seeking to run for a position on the 2019/2020 executive will close on Friday 7th March with printing materials to be finalised no later than the following Friday 14th March.
Among the sabbatical positions up for election are the roles of President, Education Officer, Welfare Officer, Graduate Officer and Campaigns & Communications Officer.
In addition, a referendum on a proposed new UCDSU constitution is expected to take place the same day which will add a sixth sabbatical portfolio, seeing the return of a formalised Ents Officer to the Union. If the constitution is accepted by student voters, a by-election will take place in which students may run for the position.
A total of nine college officers will also be elected this semester which include two Arts & Humanities College Officers, an Agriculture, Food Science & Vet College Officer, a Science College Officer, a Health Science College Officer, a Business College Officer, a Law College Officer, an Engineering & Architecture College Officer and an Irish Language Officer.
Barry Murphy, who has served a two-year term as President, encouraged interested students to read "the current and proposed constitutional duties" of the available roles and to speak to the incumbent sabbatical officers in relation to the roles.
