A motion is set to be put to UCDSU council in the coming weeks for a referendum on the union's fee stance. Currently UCDSU has no position on fees.If passed, a referendum will be called asking students to pick two positions. Students can choose between favouring free fees or an income-contingent loan system.UCDSU President Conor Viscardi explained that the two options were based on those in the Cassells' report. He also stated that no matter the outcome, the union would advocate for the "best possible" outcome .If passed by council, the referendum is set to be held with UCDSU executive elections in week 7.The move also comes as TCDSU council voted in favour of free fees. UCDSU council first considered a stance on fees earlier this year, but delayed a decision to allow more consultation with students.
