UCD Islamic Society tell you who they are, and what they can offer in the upcoming year.
As the academic year kicks off, the UCD Islamic Society's (ISOC) focus remains steadfast on encouraging a vibrant community and spiritual growth amongst its members. ISOC's calendar is full of activities that make the university a welcoming and supportive environment for Muslim students on campus. The society's events are distinguished by our emphasis on unity and respect and how we offer something for everyone. Some eagerly anticipated events are the Culture Night and the Ladies' Ball.
Culture Night is to take place during Charity Week and guarantees to be a memorable evening of cultural exchange and cultural celebration. The event will show the diverse cultures (and cuisine) that exists amongst the UCD community. This event has a dual purpose: not only does it serve as a celebration of global cultures, but it also contributes to charity as all proceeds from Culture Night will be donated to Islamic Relief's project ‘Charity Week’.
As for the Ladies' Ball, it is a night of elegance. Offering a sophisticated atmosphere, all attendees can enjoy an evening of dining, entertainment, and connection in a warm and welcoming environment. The Ladies' Ball is all about fostering a sense of community and togetherness, allowing women to relax, have fun, and build lasting friendships within the Islamic society.
These events are just a glimpse of what ISOC has to offer this year. Our society regularly organises talks, workshops, and Islamic gatherings that provide students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of Islam, engage in meaningful discussions, and build lasting friendships with their peers.
To summarise, ISOC provides many opportunities for spiritual growth and community building throughout the year. As the year progresses, ISOC will continue to be a cornerstone of student life at UCD, offering a variety of events and activities that cater to both the spiritual and social needs of students. By participating in ISOC's activities, students can broaden their horizons and contribute to important causes.
So, go down to the society's stall during Freshers Week and be sure to chat to this year's committee! If, for whatever reason, you can't make it down during Freshers Week, you can sign-up at any of our events.
