LAST week, UCD library received a donation of all the books that were long-listed for this year’s Dublin Literary Award.147 novels were long-listed for this year’s award, across 109 cities and 40 countries. 43 were novels that had been translated and these novels had been translated from a variety of 19 languages. 30 of those long-listed were first novels. Some of the novels nominated include “Salt Creek” by Lucy Treloar and “”Woman of the Dead” by Bernhard Aichner. The winner will be announced on the 21st of June 2017.The Dublin Literary Award is awarded to a novel written in English or translated into English each year. Libraries in major cities worldwide nominate novels for the award. The award’s goal is to encourage and promote excellence in world literature.All long-listed books for the Dublin Literary Award are donated to UCD library annually. These books are then featured in UCD Library’s Collection Spotlight display.
