UCD launches Master’s Double Degree in Sustainability Engineering Leadership along with Boston’s Northeastern University

University College Dublin and Northeastern University have announced a new Double Degree in Sustainability Engineering Leadership, presented as “the first-of-its-kind”.

On March 13, University College Dublin and Boston’s Northeastern University announced the launch of a new Master of Science’s Double Degree in Sustainability Engineering Leadership, during an event held in Washington D.C. 

Various academic and government officials attended the meeting, including UCD President Professor Orla Feely, Northeastern Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs David Madigan, and Taoiseach Micheál Martin. 

Mr. Martin announced on X that “UCD and Boston’s Northeastern University agreed to collaborate on a new Double Master’s Degree in Sustainability Engineering Leadership - helping put talent and innovation at the heart of US and Irish relations.”

The degree will kick off in September 2025, and those interested in applying will have to do so before June 1. The two-year program begins in Boston, while the second year is spent in Dublin. Students will focus on engineering design, development, and assessment of sustainable technologies, and will also be given the opportunity to choose between two concentrations: Energy and Climate Technologies and Sustainability Assessment.
