‘James Joyce Chamber Music, Vol. 1’ has been submitted to the category of Best Choral Performance at the world’s most prominent music awards.
The album, which was released last September, features poetry by James Joyce set to music by a number of different composers. The Cholar Scholars Instagram account announced the album’s release last year alongside a quote from Joyce about the collection stating ‘The book is in fact a suite of songs and if I were a musician I suppose I should have set them to music myself’.
The album was created under the artistic direction of Desmond Earley. Choral Scholars in UCD receive a financial reward of €1500. Nominations for the 2026 GRAMMYs will be announced on November 7th.
