The Ball is scheduled to be held in the former HSS Ferry Terminal in Dún Laoghaire harbour on April 28th, the last day of semester 2.UCD is hosting the event, alongside DIT Students' Union, though students throughout Dublin are also invited to attend. Preference will however be given to UCD, with 7,000 tickets on sale in total. DIT students are expected to have an allowance of 1,500 tickets. Tickets go on sale 20th February at the initial cost of €40.Designed to have a festival like atmosphere, the Ball will be held in the Ferry car park behind Dún Laoghaire DART station, though this is still subject to license. Buses will be provided from UCD before the event and into town after the event, at a cheaper rate than public transport. The event will feature two stages, a gourmet food yard, fun fair and over 20 artists on offer.UCDSU Ents manager Paul Kilgallon explained that last year the university had refused permission for the Ball to be held on campus. He also explained "the Ball was created in response to the challenges faced by Colleges providing quality entertainment for their students."Tickets are available from partner college SUs as well as from www.theball.ie. Headline acts are expected to be announced next week.
