Marta Bueno Arcos gives us the gossip on her top five trendy pieces this autumn, and how to style with your wardrobe for a cohesive look! High neck trench coats, coloured tights, leather handbags, babydoll blouses, and pointy toed heels!

High neck trench coats: If the words classy, cool and chic fit your vibe, then high neck trench coats are the way to go this autumn! The silhouette is usually more cropped, but its high neck still keeps you warm with no need for a scarf, so make sure to pair it with a more fitted bottom to balance out the oversize of the coat. They come in all sorts of materials and colors, but if you want to use it as the perfect versatile piece this autumn, then a neutral toned wool or leather, in caramel, brown or black, is the perfect combination!

Coloured or patterned tights: Minimalism is out, maximalism is in! The 60’s called, and they have the perfect addition to your outfit: coloured or patterned tights! Try a funky pattern or a blend of colors, they’ll make your outfit that much more vibrant! If you aren’t yet ready for the full maximalist aesthetic, you can always start small. Build a neutral or monochromatic outfit, and let your tights be that special pop of colour, for example with an all-black outfit and your favourite colored tights. Or you can always use the sandwich method, have your bottom and shoes be one color (black, white, brown) and your top and tights be something more colorful (red, purple, blue).

Leather handbags: Good news, if you were looking for the perfect autumn accessory, your mother’s chaotic handbag from your childhood is now in trend! Picture leather, maybe something more neutral and easier to combine like brown or black, or something more daring like red for a perfect touch of color. Either way, the formula to style it is the same: make your accessories match your shoes! Or, go the opposite route and have your handbag be your statement piece. Either way, make it messy, cluttered and fun! Accessorize it with charms, ribbons or even scarves, fill it to the brim with your essentials, and rock the look.

Babydoll tops: Speaking of vintage becoming back, the babydoll style is definitely making a comeback! If you want to compliment the silhouette, go for mid or even low-rise jeans, and don’t be afraid to pair the blouse with looser fit jeans, for a more casual look, or a sleek skirt for a going out outfit. This type of top screams cute and dainty, so you can either style it that way, using softer colors, ruffles and bows, or you can offset it, using jeans, leather jackets and darker colors to give your outfit some contrast.

Pointy toe heels: And for the pièce de résistance, if you are going to raid your mom’s closet, (or sister’s, auntie’s, or just a thrift shop) for any of these pieces then let pointy toe heels be that item! Unleash your inner Carrie Bradshaw and hit the town! Bonus points if it’s a kitten heel, they are much comfier while being just as chic. They truly are a 20 something’s ideal footwear, they can dress up any outfit, and look great whether you style them with a cute dress for a chic going out look or more casual with jeans and a t-shirt.
