Matchday Correspondent Aaron Davoren reviews the first semester performances of UCD sports teams ahead of the return to competitive action.
Bowden are an exciting five piece alternative rock band from Cork and Clonmel. Their main influences include Radiohead, Villagers, LCD Soundsystem and Pavement. If you are into electric guitar solos, powerful vocals, strong percussion and groovy bass lines, it would be worth checking Bowden out.
Although they only formed in 2022, they released their debut album ‘Glacier’ last May and have performed at venues across the country, including at Whelans in October. Set to be just another of the excellent Irish artists dominating the music scene, Bowden are particularly noteworthy for their electric live performances.
Throughout their repertoire, the band have explored themes of the human experience, digital alienation and the search for community and meaning amidst uncertainty. We would particularly recommend checking out their singles ‘Peel’ and ‘Be Your Own God’.
Across Ireland, they have received support and praise from Hot Press Magazine, RTÉ 2FM and Breaking Tunes. Having been recognised as Best New Act by Spotify’s The Cork Playlist, their fan base has continued to grow since.
More music is to come from them in 2026. Until then, you can listen to their music on Spotify or Apple Music and keep up with them on social media @bowdenband for any information relating to upcoming gigs and releases!
