SU Election Update: Low registration numbers as Anderson endorses Horan

Your final SU election update before voting begins tomorrow

Online Voting

With registration for online voting complete, the total number of students registered to vote stands at 1,262. A total of 1288 were initially registered, with 26 of these having been deleted from the register due to the fact that they were no longer registered students. A further 11 students had inputted incorrect emails, which has been rectified.

With over 4,000 votes being cast in last year’s executive races, it is clear that the large online push by candidates and the SU to get students to register was largely unsuccessful.

Anderson endorses Horan

The sole candidate for the role of President has endorsed Darryl Horan in the Education race over his opponent Hannah Bryson. It is understood that they coordinated their campaigns, meeting several times before nominations opened. It is also understood that Anderson will endorse Welfare candidate Ruairí Power over his opponent Rebecca O’Connor.
