SU Council votes to approve online voting

In a virtual meeting of UCDSU Council held today, a motion proposing that voting for the UCDSU should take place online passed, with 63 of the 76 members present voting in favour.

UCDSU is working with UCD to ensure the safety of the online voting system, as well as ensuring that each student can only vote once. The system of PRSTV (Proportional Representation Single Transferable Vote) that SU elections in the past will also be used for the online vote.

There will be a registration process, and the vote itself is likely to take place in week 12, contingent on the online voting mechanism being up and operational by that time. This is the first time in the history of the UCDSU that online voting will be used.
