UCDSVP share their New Year's resolutions

Just as the exam season draws to a close, people begin to feel the excitement of Christmas. The Christmas lights sparkle on Grafton Street; we rummage through our wardrobes for a not-completely-terrible Christmas jumper and finally get around to doing some last-minute present shopping (thinking next year we’ll be more organised...). For UCDSVP, one of our most special moments at this time of year is when our members collect the donated toys from under the five Generositrees dotted around campus, which will be donated to the children of Laura Lynn’s children’s hospice. While we gather these toys, we begin to appreciate the generosity of our university community.

Having compassion for others, bringing a smile to the faces of those who need it and spreading kindness are UCDSVP’s New Year’s Resolutions. From weekly street outreach activities to our letter writing campaign, our goal is to make a difference and have fun while doing it! We have so many exciting events coming up in 2024, including our annual sleep-out for ‘Homelessness Week’ (everyone from sleepwalkers to sleep talkers are welcome!). To keep up to date with all our events as well as having a reason to justify your screen time, be sure to follow us on Instagram @ucd_svp. As we go into the new year, we can admit that resolutions are hard to stick to, but with our amazing team of volunteers and society members, we know that we can make this year one of the best yet!
