SHAG Week set to go ahead this week

UCD Sexual Health and Guidance Week (SHAG) is taking place this week on the 14th and 15th of February. The annual event, which took place during the first semester last year, has moved up from a one day to a two day event.Speaking about SHAG, Welfare Officer Róisín O’Mara stated to the Observer that the SU are “planning to continue the conversations around sexual health and healthy relationships in a light hearted and fun way.”UCD SHAG, which in the past operated over the course of the full week, aims to raise awareness around sexual health and STI-related issue through a series of events on campus.Events are spread across Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Tuesday opens with a discussion and Q&A with Shawna from Irish online sex shop Sex Siopa. Tuesday also features a screening of The Hunting Ground, a 2015 documentary about sexual assault and rape on university campuses. The screening is at 4pm in the UCD Cinema.Throughout the course of the two days, the SU have collaborated with baker goods supplier Cupcake Bloke to supply free cupcakes. Discounted STI screenings will also be available from the student health services throughout the event.
