No End of Year Ball for UCD Students: The Ball has been Cancelled

The Ball Festival has been cancelled. The Ball Festival was set to be a collaborative event held between UCDSU and DITSU to create a student festival in Dun Laoighaire. In a statement, the event organisers said:"Unfortunately, as an independent promoter in a competitive market, we were unable to secure our complete line-up. While there has been great feedback from students and our partner SUs over the last number of months, this has unfortunately not been reflected in ticket sales and ultimately this has resulted in us being unable to proceed with The Ball as planned for Friday 27th April 2018 in Dun Laoghaire."Last year saw the first Ball Festival taking place in Dun Laoighaire. It was planned to enable UCD students attend a ball of their own, as engagement with the UCD Ball had decreased since it was moved off campus. The event organisers are "currently reviewing our options regarding The Ball Festival 2019, aiming to deliver a festival for students that builds on the quality and experience as seen last year. In the meantime we would like to thank you for your patience and should you have any queries, please feel free to contact us via Facebook chat or hello@theball.ie"UCDSU are planning on alternative end of year event to take place in UCD on Thursday and Friday of next week.In a statement UCDSU said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we’re already organising a different end of year session for you to celebrate the end of term. This will be held on campus, Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th (the last two days of term). Details coming soon."UCD students can claim refunds for their tickets from the UCDSU reception from Thursday 19th April onwards.
