While you were sleeping, Meg Bergin, the CEO of one of Dublin’s best safe clubbing experiences, The Girl’s Room, has been hard at work preparing for an experience that will have you forgetting all about your exams and the unrelenting cold.

Partnering with curated., Dublin’s newest event curation platform, The Girl’s Room is launching its newest event, a series of live music shows at 10 pm on Sunday, December 17th at the Workman’s Cellar.

The collaboration called Spotlight Sessions, celebrates up-and-coming Irish talent focusing specifically on showcasing both women and non-binary artists in a space that has been male-dominated for far too long. But stay tuned for other inclusive and diverse shows in the next months.

The modus operandi for curated. events follow this tripartite statement: “connect-inspire-celebrate”.

Connect people who might not have met if it weren’t for the creation of these spaces.

Inspire both attendees and performers to invest in arts in Dublin.

Celebrate the talent and dedication of artists who often do not get the recognition they deserve.

This night will be cozy and vibey thanks to the sounds of Latin funk, Rnb, and even Afro Swing, courtesy of innovative artists like Saibhin, Rachel Mae Hannon, and Wendy Godfrey.

Singer-songwriter Wendy Godfrey first arrived on the music scene with her 2020 single ‘How Far’ and later released her debut EP, Purple Emotions. If you ever yearn for the early 2000s golden age of RnB, look no further. At a crossroads between Eve, Victoria Monet, and Cassie, Wendy Godfrey brings the vibes to create a cozy evening of sisterhood. When the slight malaise and longing of December becomes too much, she generously transforms these feelings into beats that won’t make you burst into tears.

RAYE and Florence + The Machine have found a musical love child in Saibhin (Saibh Garcia Weber), a Mexican-Irish singer currently making waves in the Dublin music scene. Her soulful performances are both genuine and demanding as she channels a catharsis for her audience. The intersection of Sean-nós ballads and Latin funk creates the ideal soundtrack for barrelling down a steep hill without worrying about whether you’ll scrape your knees at the bottom.

If you loved Lauryn Hill and haven’t been able to resist going through Jungle’s newest record, you’ll love Rachel Mae Hannon. The multitalented artist hails from Monaghan and blends eloquent harmonies to her sultry low register. Her tracks ooze with an authentic blend of pop and neo-soul and have the power to lull you into a dreamless sleep.

As you can see, there is going to be talent to spare at the coziest night of the year, so clear your calendars for an event you’re not likely to forget courtesy of the big sister of Dublin Nightlife, Meg Bergin herself.

Tickets are currently live on Eventbrite, so make sure to get your now!
