National student volunteer website launched

UCD, along with nine other third-level institutions, have launched a website called studentvolunteer.ie which matches a student’s interests with relevant volunteering opportunities.The website is globally the first of its kind with the aim of increasing student awareness of solving challenges such as homelessness, social exclusion, and an aging population.Through the website students can browse and apply for volunteering opportunities and connect with local, national, and international organisations. The site also allows students to manage a profile of volunteering activity, log volunteering hours, and gain recognition, awards and certificates for their volunteering.Studentvolunteer.ie was shortlisted for the 2016 THINKTECH awards and was developed under the campus engage network based at the Irish Universities Association.The website is available for use for any student enrolled at a higher education institution, private college or VEC.
