The Eat the Streets Festival is finally here. Deputy Editor Lucy Warmington shares what you can expect on the day.
After a Summer dominated by the Taste of Dublin and Big Grill festivals, you might think Dublin has no more left to offer for the starving foodie. However, make way for the ‘Eat the Streets Festival’. The festival is coming to Inchicore on Saturday 14th September, and will run from 1pm to 6pm in the iconic Richmond Barracks venue, near the Drimnagh Luas stop.
Eat the Streets promises opportunities to cook, grow, and create by bringing together families, farmers, urban growers and neighbourhoods to celebrate Dublin’s food. This is echoed in the dozens of Dublin's favourite food stalls who will be there to feed the crowds, with the likes of Bros Dumplings, Happy Out Coffee, Delhi 2 Dublin, Órale Street Food, and Ellie’s Kitchen all making an appearance.
Throughout the day, Richmond Barracks will host cooking workshops, yoga sessions, walking tours, and screenings. Learn how to grow your own food in an urban setting, how to be kind to the climate when sourcing your food, or spend the day collecting recipes as you move along the ‘17th century food walk’.
Whilst the festival is short and sweet, the Eat the Streets official website www.eatthestreets.ie has hundreds of interactive resources to check out. With a focus on sustainability, and of course food, you can find recipes from Dublin’s best chefs, podcasts for a rainy day, and guides to the best farmers markets in the country to continue the experience beyond the walls of Richmond Barracks.
