There were no surprises in the sabbatical officer elections while Adam Reid was elected Arts and Humanities college officer by just 5 votes.
Enzo Crothers has been elected as the next UCDSU President after receiving 2563 votes in an uncontested election. He beat out the option to reopen nominations, which received 499 votes.
Jessica Klein has been elected as the next UCDSU Education Officer. Klein received 2546 votes in the race in which she was the sole candidate. The option to reopen nominations received 273 votes.
Anushka Baisoya has beaten out Niamh Andrews Fraher to become the next Graduate Officer of UCDSU. Baisoya received 608 votes compared to Andrews Fraher’s 319 votes. Re-open nominations received a total of 68 votes in the Graduate Officer race.
Patrick Henríquez Bruce has been elected as the next Entertainments officer, beating out Chetan Sanjay Khanna and Shreyansh Jagtap. Henríquez Bruce received 1778 votes. Sanjay Khanna received 473 votes. As the only current sabbatical officer running for reelection to UCDSU, Jagtap received 623 votes.
In the Welfare race, Éabha Hughes has been elected as the next Welfare Officer of UCDSU with a total of 2010 votes. Nidhi Hiranwar received 716 votes, whilst Sneha Choudhary received 348 votes. Re-open nominations received a total of 150 votes in the Welfare race.
Tom Conway has been elected as UCDSU’s next Campaigns and Engagement Officer after receiving a total of 1979 votes. Chesi Anne Basil received 957 votes, whilst the option to re-open nominations received 189 votes in this race.
The overall turnout was 3859 voters.
Post Election Interviews
Commenting on his win as UCDSU President for 2026/2027, Enzo Crothers said, “I’m absolutely elated. Congratulations to everyone who was elected, and commiserations to those who weren’t.” Crothers goes on to say that he believes “all the candidates this year were of great quality and I can’t wait for next year and I look forward to the work ahead”.
Asked about how she feels following her win, the UCDSU 2026/2027 Graduation Officer says, “I’m feeling so good, and I just want to thank everyone who voted for me. I promise that I will live up to this position. I will make the union proud and the whole university proud”. Anushka notes that she felt worried when prediction polls came out, saying “I was a little nervous, what will happen? Am I going to win?”.
Ultimately, Anushka expresses her gratitude over the win “I am very happy that today all my hard work paid off”. Anushka mentions the comradery when talking about her fellow nominee for the Graduation Officer position, Niamh Andrews Fraher, “Niamh was amazing and we were in talks with each other, we were talking about manifestos and hustings together, and hustings was great for both of us”.
Speaking after her election as the next Welfare Officer, Éabha Hughes said, “I was proud of the campaign I ran so I was going to be happy no matter what the outcome was.” Commenting on the fact that the welfare race received the most votes, Hughes said “It was highly contested, I guess it's the most important position as it’s case work and its face-to-face work”.
Tom Conway thanked his campaign team in his post election interview after his successful election as the next Campaigns and Engagement Officer. He also said he was happy that it was a contested race. “A contested race always leads to more student engagement, they want to see the difference between the two candidates.”
In a comment to the University Observer regarding his win, Patrick Henriquez Bruce stated: “It feels like a million bucks. I feel so happy. It was such a big surprise. Thank you to the voters. I dedicated myself one hundred percent to the race. That ended up paying off.”
Part-time Officer Elections
The only contested election was the race to become UCDSU’s next Arts and Humanities college officer. Adam Reid won the election with 288 votes on the second count compared to Canyon Montana’s 283 votes on the second count, meaning that there was only 5 votes in the difference. Re-open nominations received 60 votes on the first count, which was then re-distributed amongst the candidates.
In the college officer elections, no race received more votes for reopening nominations than the candidate running.
There are eleven part-time officer positions on the Union Executive, with ten being College Officer positions and one the Oifigeach na Gaeilge. Only one of these positions were contested; five races had only one candidate, whilst a further five had no candidates put forward. A by-election is to be held to fill the remaining vacancies.
Cian Spillane was elected the next Engineering college officer with 228 votes. Reopen nominations received 32 votes.
Seán Morrow won his uncontested election to become the next Health Science college officer. He received 229 votes, beating out the option to reopen nominations, which received 83 votes.
Gabriel Kuzmanich will take up the roll of Science College officer after being successful in his uncontested election. He received 464 votes while re-open nomination received 81 votes.
UCDSU’s next Law College Officer will be Minna Abbas, who ran uncontested for the position and received 136 votes. The option to re-open nominations received a total of 25 votes.
Stephanie Tsz Tsun Li has succeeded in her campaign to become the Union’s next Oifigeach na Gaeilge, after having received a total of 2478 votes. Re-open nominations received a total of 304 votes.
