Editorial - Volume XXXI Issue One

Campus is buzzing, and Volume XXXI Issue One is out. We are so back baby.

Oh, hey there! Welcome back to another year of The University Observer!

After a pretty hectic first month in the job, we are proud to present our first issue of the year. It is great to have the buzz back on campus, it’s been pretty quiet across Belfield over the past month.

We will do our utmost this year to provide you, the student body, with content of the highest quality, holding our University to account (as well as providing some tasty memes.) We love this newspaper, and can only hope to encourage everyone to contribute in any way they feel comfortable, whether that be for print, online, social media or from an artistic point of view.

As for last year’s Editors, Tessa and Ilaria, thank you for everything.

It is safe to say that for the role of Editor-in-Chief this year, it is going to be no easy feat to step up to the plate of my predecessor, Tessa Ndjonkou. Tessa was an excellent leader, and truly brought out the best in her team; I can only hope to replicate this over the course of the upcoming year. However, I certainly don’t have the beanies or pashmina’s to contend on style points...

Stepping into the Deputy Editor role I am humbly aware of the big shoes, nay - ankle high boots, I have to fill. Ilaria Riccio may no longer reside in this office, but the imprint she left behind sure does. Mostly in the seat of her swivel chair, and the now-expired bag of gluten free pick n’ mix sitting on the counter.

With past editors guiding us along (did we mention Samantha Libreri liked our Instagram story), we hope you enjoy Issue One as much as we enjoyed making it.
