Chopped set to open today in UCD

UPDATED: Despite an initial timeframe of "1 to 2pm" this afternoon, Chopped management has confirmed that the store's opening has been delayed until 11am tomorrow morning.[br]ORIGINAL STORY:BELFIELD has become the newest location for the rapidly expanding food outlet Chopped. A new location of the “healthy good company” is about to be opened in UCD. It is set to open by 2pm this afternoon.The Gerard Manley Hopkins Building – between Quinn and the old UCD bar – is the home of the new location. The building is home to a number of franchised outlets such as Starbucks and Subway.The chain, founded back in 2012, has been growing rapidly throughout the city. Chopped specialises in health-focused salads and wraps, and is set to provide competition for the main restaurant found upstairs in the Manley Hopkins building.Chopped offers a variety of set salads, wraps and sandwiches, as well as a create-your-own menu. They also offer soup, coffess, tea, and smoothies. The Belfield location comes as a result of last year’s new Freshly Chopped Franchise model, which will results in a number of new Chopped locations opening up around the country. They are currently 19 stores across Ireland.Speaking on the launch of Chopped in UCD, Brian Lee – co-founder and managing director of Chopped – stated that: “we’re delighted to be opening our newest Chopped at UCD. Students can choose from a wide range of healthy and tasty meals or snacks to fuel their academic endeavours.”
